The most popular request from my clients is to figure out how the hell to nail smart casual looks. I’m talking everyday style that takes us from school drop off, coffee dates or drinks with friends. We all know it shouldn’t be that hard, but well, sometimes it just is.
This constant request for some direction led me to my next project…. Introducing ‘Everyday Style’.
I’m going to be showing you how to pull looks together and by showing you, I mean I’m wearing them. I want you to be able to connect with these looks and feel confident in trying new styles of clothing, wearing a belt or adding a hat.
I want to tell you, I get it. I’m in my mid 30’s (shit, just had a birthday, make that mid-late 30’s!!!) Like you, every day is different, I juggle work, family life, travel, throw some exercise in, time with beautiful friends, time with my three children, a little bit of sleep here and there (my 14 month old has other ideas, bless) and I try and walk out the door each morning with a look in the mirror feeling good, sometimes even great. And you know what, we owe it to ourselves, so have a regular hair appointment, the occasional spray tan and buy clothes that make us feel good. Zero compromise should be your new motto. You do not need to be cashed up to make this happen ladies, so I’m going to show you how to create everyday looks for all budgets, all styles and all shapes.
This autumn vibe look is for those who are a bit boho and love would do anything for Nina Proudman’s style. My hero piece is the maxi floral skirt; put back with a classic white tank and belted to draw the eye to the waist (everyone has a waist ladies, you just need to learn how to accentuate it or create it!). I’m not usually a maxi skirt gal, although the split won me over. I’m wearing a platform, although a sandal or ankle boot will work. For the cooler months, wear this look with a denim jacket and add a scarf rather than a hat. This look has the ability to create height as visually the long skirt creates longer looking legs and is accentuating the waist, so proportionally it’s ticking all of the boxes. Skirts almost always, never work with a top worn out, so the lesson here is to tuck it in. If you’re tummy conscious, opt for a skirt with a thicker fabric or waistband that will help flatten your tum. Hope this helps inspire a new look for your weekend. Stay tuned for the next ‘Everyday Style’ post. A x
